How the number is built
Three parts, each from the sky and each traceable to a named aspect: transit weather out of 60, the Moon today out of 25, your own lunar cycle out of 15. Nothing behavioural goes in. Every orb and weight comes from the model file the app scores with — version 3. This sample uses the UK calendar date and the same noon-UTC daily scoring instant as the product.
Today, for a sample chart
Someone born on 15 June 1995, date only, scores 74 today — a push day, for 16 October 2026 in the UK. Its strongest dated transit holds until 21 October 2026. Today's flags for it: Venus retrograde until 14 Nov; Saturn retrograde until 10 Dec; Void-of-course Moon in Sagittarius.
The three parts, to one scale. Transit weather is the widest track because it carries the most; the Moon moves the number day to day; the lunar cycle is the slow background.
| Aspect | From exact | Weight today |
|---|---|---|
| Sun trine natal Sun | 0.8° applying | +19.6 |
| Saturn trine natal Jupiter | 1.6° applying | +18.5 |
| Mars trine natal Jupiter | 1.7° separating | +13.6 |
| Saturn sextile natal Mercury | 0.4° applying | +13.3 |
The three parts
- Transit weather, 0 to 60
- Where the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are today, measured against where the same six were the day you were born — and, at a fraction of the weight, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. Every aspect within orb is weighted by tradition, tightened by how exact it is (up to one and a half times at exactness), and nudged up when it is still applying and down when it is separating. The favourable share of the total gives a ratio; the ratio is pulled towards the middle when little is happening, so one weak trine on a quiet day can no longer read as a perfect one.
- The Moon today, 0 to 25
- The transiting Moon against the same natal points at the day's fixed noon-UTC instant. Lunar aspects change through the day, but the daily number stays fixed for the same birth details and model version; separate window times describe the moving sky. The same blend. If the Moon is void of course at that scoring instant, this part is capped at 10.
- Your lunar cycle, 0 to 15
- The angle between today's Moon and your natal Sun: your own 29½-day cycle rather than the world's phase, highest a week after your lunar return and lowest a week before it.
The number is the three added together, 0 to 100. Under 45 is a hold day, 45 to 69 steady, 70 and over a push day. Nothing you have logged changes the number; what you have logged changes the brief written about it.
What counts, and by how much
| Aspect | Angle | Orb | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| conjunction | 0° | 6° | +6 |
| opposition | 180° | 6° | −8 |
| trine | 120° | 5° | +12 |
| square | 90° | 5° | −10 |
| sextile | 60° | 4° | +8 |
The outer planets — Uranus, Neptune, Pluto — transit only, at 60% of the orb and 35% of the weight. A year in orb is a season, not a permanent offset, and at full weight they tilted the whole population of numbers; damped, they shape the frame without taking over the day. They are never natal targets: they move a degree a year, and a fast transit to natal Pluto is noise.
The Moon's North Node rides with the transits by conjunction and opposition only, within 3°, at +4 either way — a turning point, never a good or a bad day.
Natal positions are taken at the exact birth instant when you give a time and a city, otherwise at noon on the date. Without a time the natal Moon can be seven degrees out, so it is never scored against and its sign is shown as a noon estimate.
What a birth time adds
Six natal points become nine: the Moon joins them, and so do the two angles — the Ascendant and the Midheaven — which exist only for an instant at a place. With the Ascendant come whole-sign houses, and with houses the three domains the brief speaks to: money (the second and eighth), performance (the first, sixth and tenth), relationships (the fifth and seventh). Each aspect then also scores the domain of the natal point it touches.
A birth time in the hour the clocks skipped is refused with the reason; one in the hour that happened twice takes its first occurrence, and the settings page says so.
Flags, never points
Flags do not add separate points: retrogrades from Mercury to Saturn, with the date each ends; a void-of-course Moon, with the hour it ends; an eclipse within a fortnight, at its degree; and your lunar return. The void-of-course condition does cap the Moon contribution at the daily scoring instant, as described above. Flags may inform the brief's interpretation, but never override real commitments.

What it can and cannot claim
Today, across 150 birth dates spread over fifty years, the number reads 5% push, 77% steady and 17% hold, with a mean of 54 — computed for the UK calendar date at the same noon-UTC instant as the sample. Over a fortnight and 450 dates, checked before each change to the weights, the shares sit near 19%, 66% and 15%.
None of that makes the number a forecast, and it is not one. Controlled studies have found astrologers at chance on matching people to charts; no study validates daily scoring of this kind, and we do not claim one does. What the number is, exactly, is a deterministic reading of a named model against real positions — every point traceable to an aspect you can see. The test that matters is your own: each evening's check-in records whether the day landed, and the ledger on your dashboard shows push days against hold days for you alone. If they do not differ for you, the number is decoration, and the ledger will say so.
The model is versioned so that record stays honest: version 1 scored the sky and a streak; version 2 (August 2026) dropped the streak, added the blend, the Moon today and the lunar cycle; version 3 (September 2026) added the outer planets, the node, retrograde end dates, the eclipse fortnight and void of course by search. Each check-in records the version in force when it was answered.
Why we publish this
A number you cannot audit is a mood ring. This page is the audit: the same model, the same positions, every weight on the table, served in plain text to anyone who asks.
